The Summer Biomedical Internship (SBI) program was established in 1988 to provide a quality biomedical research experience for students in the Central San Joaquin Valley. The program matches high school students, in the summer between their junior and senior year of high school with faculty members who have or are developing a research project. Students are chosen based on their scholastic abilities and must reside in the 6 county valley area. Students are matched with a faculty mentor on a project for approximately 6-7 during the summer. The internship also includes opportunities for field trips to local hospitals, UCSF main campus and to attend various lectures and grand rounds. The internship culminates in the "Presentation of Projects" on the first Wednesday in August.

The Women in Academic Medicine group was formed at UCSF Fresno in 2014 to create a supportive community to help foster and support women pursuing academic careers in medicine at all stages of their careers. The group meets quarterly (October, January, April and July) to provide career development and networking opportunities.

The Health Professions Education Pathway trains innovators from all health professions fields who promote excellence in teaching, translate theory and novel strategies to the learning environment, and expand knowledge in the field of health professions education.

The vision of the PLUS program is that its graduates will be pediatrician-leaders who are creating systematic and sustainable improvements to the health of underserved children. Our mission is to train and inspire future leaders in pediatrics to identify and address the various issues that impact the health of children from vulnerable communities. Through a unique blend of classroom lessons, targeted mentorship, and project-based applications, PLUS trains the passionate advocates of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.

JHC is dedicated to fostering the Japanese culture and language at UCSF. Our club is open to all professional students and offers a great variety of activities, lessons, and professional opportunities. These may include Japanese language and culture education, social outings to local culture events, language partnering, and more. We aim to make strong local and international connections with the Japanese community in the San Francisco area and around the world. Welcome to our club!

The Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) is a national organization of medical and pre-medical students committed to addressing the unique health challenges of Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) communities. APAMSA serves as a forum for student leaders to engage these health issues and develop initiatives and projects addressing those needs. The local, regional, and national activities of APAMSA aim to promote the health of the APIA community and help healthcare workers understand how to care for APIA patients in a culturally sensitive manner. Finally, APAMSA provides an important venue for medical students to meet, exchange experiences, and develop personally and professionally through leadership and service.

The Black Student Health Alliance (BSHA) is a student organization devoted to fostering community among students in the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Physical Therapy and the Graduate Division at UCSF. In collaboration with other campus organizations, we aim to increase diversity within the student body, as well as among faculty and staff. As an extension of this mission, we offer support and guidance to students as they navigate academic institutions and prepare for careers in the health professions. BSHA provides an extended community of peers and mentors by building alliances among professionals and alumni in all health fields, and encourages the collaboration of resources and expertise. Through community events and outreach activities, BSHA contributes to the enrichment of the Black student community in particular, and to the broader UCSF community at large.

CHE (Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education) is an umbrella organization of LMSA (Latino Medical Student Association), HSDA (Hispanic Dental Student Association), LAPS (Latino Association of Pharmacy Students), and Voces Latinas Nursing Student Association. CHE unites Latino students and those interested in the Latino community, from within the various professional schools at UCSF. Our mission consists of an interdisciplinary approach that offers outreach, mentoring, cultural awareness, health education, and direct services to diverse communities in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. Our goal is to unite as professional students who come from humble origins, in the hopes of serving as an inspiration to youth and future leaders in the health professions.

Chinese Health Professional Student Association (CHPSA) primary goal is to promote respectable understanding of Chinese culture and its diversity to students at UCSF. More importantly, CHPSA will emphasize Chinese culture relevant to medical and dental treatments and facilitate culturally sensitive patient centered care at UCSF. We hope to not only promote interprofessional cooperation amongst various health professional schools, but also to promote such cooperation amongst students of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, not limited to students of Chinese ethnic background.

Indian Student Association is here to create awareness about Indian culture and its values in it's culturally rich and diverse institute; by celebrating Indian festivals and organizing cultural events. We also see it as a platform to promote inter-professional relationship between students of Indian origin in all schools of UCSF. All students from all UCSF schools are welcome to join and enjoy this colorful journey with music, dance and food.
