The ADA Foundation Dr. David Whiston Leadership Program annually provides two $5,000 awards - the Dr. David Whiston Leadership Award and the Henry Schein Cares Dr. David Whiston Leadership Award - to deserving individuals who have demonstrated leadership skills in efforts aimed at improving the oral health of the public. The award funds are designed to cover the costs associated with attending a leadership development program offered by the American Management Association.

The ADA Foundation Predoctoral Dental Student Scholarships help predoctoral dental students defray a part of their professional education expenses. The goal of this program is to facilitate the education of academically gifted dental students. Application Period: First business day after Labor Day (application period opens) through the second Friday in November (application deadline). For the Predoctoral Dental Student Scholarship Program, the ADAF accepts one application per school, submitted by the school on behalf of the student. For the Underrepresented Minority Dental Student Scholarship Program, the ADA Foundation accepts up to five applications per school, submitted by the school on behalf of each student. The ADAF does not accept applications submitted directly from students.

Through the Semi-annual Grants Program, the ADAF periodically invites U.S.-based organizations exempt from taxation under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code whose charitable activities within or without the United States further the ADA Foundation's exempt purposes of Education or Access to Care, as further described in the Applications and Guidelines.

ADA Foundation Allied Dental Scholarships are offered annually to help dental assisting, dental hygiene, and dental laboratory technology students defray a part of their professional educational expenses. The goal of this program is to facilitate the education of academically gifted students, which in turn helps to foster the public's oral health.

Since 1999, the Samuel D. Harris Fund for Children's Dental Health, named for noted pediatric dentist and philanthropist Dr. Samuel D. Harris who passed away in 2003, has bestowed grants on organizations dedicated to fighting children's dental disease. Grants of up to $5,000 each are offered to non-profit organizations and agencies that sponsor education programs for parents and caregivers to reduce the incidence of early childhood caries.

The National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program is the only national scholarship program targeted at Hispanic students who are committed to careers in health care and enrolled full-time in dental, medical, nursing, public health, and policy schools. The 2015 awardees will receive their scholarships at the Scholarship Galas in Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY. There is a dearth of Hispanic health professionals in the United States. Only four percent of all physicians, three percent of all dentists, and two percent of all total nurses are Hispanic. We must increase these numbers. The National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) has developed a unique program to award scholarships to talented students, the future leaders in health care. NHHF, the 501c3 arm of the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA), is building on NHMA's network in developing The National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship, which rewards students in health policy and health professional programs for exceptional academic performance, leadership, and commitment to their community. NHHF is located at the New York Academy of Medicine and is affiliated with the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University, which has developed leaders in public service, public health, and health services research arenas.

HSF/Genera College Scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to: (1) Graduating High School Seniors; (2) Community College Transfer Students; (3) Undergraduate Students; and (4) Graduate Students.

The CHCI-Tyson Foods Scholar Intern program is designed to allow students to not only receive monetary support for their education but also gain hands-on experience during a 13-week internship during summer 2015 at Tyson Foods Headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas. Internships are available in Accounting, Information Systems, and Marketing. The internship is paid and housing is provided, however, all applicants must have a car and be willing to drive to Springdale, Arkansas for their internship placement. Once the internship is completed, CHCI-Tyson Foods Scholar Interns will receive a $2,500 scholarship beginning in fall 2015. Completion of the internship is required to receive scholarship funds.

CHCI's (Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute) scholarship opportunities are afforded to Latino students in the United States who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who demonstrate a desire to continue their civic engagement in the future. There is no GPA or academic major requirement. Students with excellent leadership potential are encouraged to apply. CHCI scholarships provide recipients with a one time scholarship of: (1)$1,000 to pursue an associate degree; (2) $2,500 to pursue an undergraduate degree; (3) $5,000 to pursue graduate-level study; and (4) Scholarship awards are intended to provide assistance with tuition, room and board, textbooks, and other educational expenses associated with college enrollment. In an effort to ensure the progress of scholarship recipients and encourage completion of the postsecondary program, each associate and undergraduate level scholarship award is divided over the number of years required for graduation (i.e. a $2,500 scholarship for a college freshman will be distributed in four equal installments of $625 a year). Students continue to receive annual disbursements as long as they maintain good academic standing. CHCI manages the disbursement of the scholarships; an annual check is sent directly to recipients.

The CHCI (Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute) Public Policy Fellowship (PPF) seeks to enhance participants' leadership abilities, strengthen professional skills and ultimately produce more competent and competitive Latino professionals in public policy areas. This Fellowship Program offers talented Latinos, who have earned a bachelor's degree within two years of the program start date a paid, nine-month fellowship. This fellowship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the national level in the public policy area of their choice.
