eQuality Scholarship Collaborative awards scholarships to honor and encourage California students for their service to the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender community. Scholarships may be used for post-secondary education at accredited institutions - colleges, universities, and trade schools. Some of the scholarships are specifically for nursing or medical school. eQuality is a volunteer-led effort, keeping administrative costs low. We are a fiscally sponsored project of Horizons Foundation.

The Pisacano Scholars Leadership Program provides educational programs, leadership training, and funding for outstanding fourth-year medical students for a four-year period. Students must make a commitment to the specialty of family medicine. The funding program is designed to reimburse a portion of medical school debt incurred by the student by the conclusion of the required three-year residency. The Foundation is especially interested in students who exhibit the highest levels of skill, compassion, and leadership. A firm and continuing commitment to the specialty of family medicine is an essential precedent for any applicant to receive a Pisacano Scholarship.

The Goldsmith scholarship program is one of the many ways in which Kaiser Permanente continues to translate our values into action. As Dr. Ellison conveyed to the scholars: "Your altruism and commitment to reducing the cultural and linguistic barriers in health care align beautifully with our mission at Kaiser Permanente." Kaiser Permanente encourages diversity in the medical profession throughout our programs and practices. We plant seeds for future physicians by nurturing students who are committed to providing culturally responsive care. Providing culturally competent care is part of Kaiser Permanente's long-standing values.

The HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) offers extensive leadership training in conjunction with internship opportunities for college students with federal agencies or major corporations. HNIP provides students the opportunity to receive valuable work experience through paid internships with federal agencies and private corporations. Since its inception, HNIP has provided more than 10,000 internships.

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (S2S LRP) provides up to $120,000 to medical students (MD and DO) in their final year of school in return for a commitment to provide primary health care full time for at least 3 years or half time for at least 6 years at an approved NHSC site in a Health Professional Shortage Area of greatest need.

The Resource Allocation Program (RAP) is a campus-wide program that acts as a one-stop shop for several intramural funding mechanisms. The RAP manages the dissemination, submission, review, and award for these opportunities, while enabling the funding agencies to maintain full oversight of their funding mechanisms and awardees. Through The David C. Lizárraga Fellowship, TELACU recognizes graduate students who demonstrate the potential and commitment to advance TELACU's mission of building self-sufficient communities through economic empowerment.

The David Geffen Medical Scholarships allows recipients to pursue distinguished careers free of financial burden. The scholarships provide full financial support to outstanding students entering the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, covering 100 percent of the instate or out-of-state cost of attending medical school - a complete living stipend, including tuition, room and board, books and supplies. The scholarship covers these costs for the duration of medical school, provided scholars remain in good standing. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit; financial need is not a criterion for eligibility. All applicants to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA will be considered for the scholarships, eliminating the need to submit separate applications. The merit-based scholarships provide full financial support for nearly 20% of entering medical students annually. The David Geffen Medical Scholarships will position recipients to immediately pursue careers in clinical practice, teaching, research and public service, giving them the tools to become leaders in health care, in the community, in academic medicine and in health care policy - without the economic burden that often restricts the choices of many young physicians and scientists.

The Christine A Geehrer Inspiration in Medicine Award (CAGIM) will provide a cash grant of $26,200 each year beginning in 2013 to one deserving individual enrolled in the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. The cash award will be available for tuition, books and materials.

For the fifth year, the United Health Foundation has partnered with NMF to offer the Diverse Medical Scholars Program. Thirty (30) scholars will be selected to receive the $7,000 scholarship and complete a self-directed community health project at the community site of their choice. Selected scholars will be enrolled in a medical school within one of the identified target areas, be a member of an underrepresented minority group, and have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to underserved communities.
